Everyone it seems has a product or products to offer these days. It’s a race to the customer’s shopping cart – virtual or made of stainless steel. Here’s a direct-to-the-point, bare-essentials mini guide to successfully launching an internet marketing product.
The idea is – if you think you have something you know is worthwhile to show to the world – launch it! To be poetic, a pearl is next to useless if it remains inside the shell.
- Develop a (great) product concept.
A great product concept can be synonymous with sales, but it’s not everything.
It’s something you know a great deal about or something you CAN learn (to expert level). But I’d rather choose the first if I were you.
Nowadays, people are looking for concrete solutions, and they want solutions NOW (this doesn’t give anyone the license to sell a misleading, get-rich-quick scheme).
Just to give you an idea, aside from having good health and looking good, people nowadays want to be rich and to achieve financial freedom (a no-brainer, really).
Start with a product that you know has a strong market demand or something people want to buy. You can add “unique” and “interesting.”
- Teaching people how to earn money at home while watching ads on TV
- Teaching people where to buy quality, search engine-friendly articles in bulk for their website
- Teaching people how to be flooded with traffic (literally)
Although you could go without one, I have yet to know an internet marketer who doesn’t have a website. Your own website is where you primarily promote your product.
Tips:
- Find out what people are looking for. Do research on the internet to find out what people are searching for and to determine keyword competitiveness.
- You can seek advice and help from expert internet marketers.
Useful Keyword Tools: Wordtracker, Google AdWords, Aaron Wall’s SEOBook
Note: Inspiration? A great idea for a product can come to you anytime, when you’re driving or doing the dishes. Seize it when it strikes.
- Decide product format.
Products in internet marketing play on how to get more clicks, what products to put on your website to get maximum traffic, how to get approved by affiliate networks…
But, as the term suggests, the internet is a broad place – not limited strictly to ads, SEO, or social media. Internet marketing products can cover copywriting, web design, etc.
If you’re an awesome writer, you can teach people how to write. If you’re a cook, you can produce a book or a compilation of your recipes.
Do you want your product to be an e-book? E-book with videos? DVDs? Printed book?
The trend is e-books with videos. You can also have people sign up and log on to a secure website to access your information.
- Develop your product.
The idea may have come from you, but you don’t have to be a one-man or one-woman workforce. For instance, you can hire someone who can write copy for you.
Talents you can hire:
- Writer or Editor to fine-tune your copy or sales pages
- Graphic Artist (it helps to have interesting images to go with walls of text)
- Customer Service staff
If you don’t have a physical office, you can outsource on Elance, Fiverr, and oDesk.
Useful Tools: MS Word, Adobe Acrobat (for e-books read as PDF files), Camtasia Studio (for video recording)
Tips: Launch on WarriorForum or Clickbank first.
- Launch on Warrior Forum first. – It can help you better your product as you get feedback from customers.
- Team up with a power player on WarriorForum for two purposes: develop a killer sales letter and gain access to super affiliates.
Find a WSO seller whose product was nominated as WSO of the Day (including me!), or at least someone who has launched many successful WSOs; this power player should have resources to help you develop a killer sales letter and help you access super affiliates. Decide profit share percentages: 50/50, 60/40, etc.
- Launch on Clickbank first.
Similar to launching on WarriorForum, team up with a power player. Develop a killer sales letter and gain access to super affiliates: This can be the same person in the previous step. Decide profit share percentages: 50/50, 60/40, etc.
- Pick a launch date and launch your product.
When your product is ready and you are ready, launch it! Launching your product doesn’t necessarily mean a cocktail party (well, you can have that after you’ve proven that your product is a hit).
On your site, have a specific, comprehensive FAQ section, so you can readily provide answers to common questions from your customers, but take into consideration that there will always be people who need very specific answers.
To keep up with inquiries – unless you can handle a daily influx of thousands of emails – have a good customer service team that is courteous, well-informed, and well-versed on your product.
- Work and persist beyond the launch.
I have only covered the basics; there are absolutely more things you can do to improve, enhance, and prepare your product in time for the big launch.
Remember, a rocket isn’t launched into space overnight – from concept.
I have read of one guy who endured the growing pains of creating a startup for the high-end market but grew lukewarm after his website became hugely successful. He has his reasons.
If you want to make internet marketing a lifelong vocation, you need a host of essential attitudes – say, hard work and persistence.
However, it doesn’t necessarily mean checking your email every five minutes. Enjoy your launch.
